Mental Health Awareness Month
October is Mental Health Month!
~Exercise and mental health benefits~
Exercise is mostly known for the physical health benefits which include decreasing cardiovascular risk factors, weight management and increases bone and muscular strength.
Exercise is less known for the benefits it has on mental health and it actually plays a great deal increasing ones mood and over all mental health.
While exercising, the brain is stimulated and releases chemicals, such as endorphins and serotonin that improves your mood. It improves your stress and symptoms of depression and anxiety as well as improving your sleep.
Exercising stimulates the nerve cells which increase connections between them. This improves memory and protects the brain from degeneration, in effect decreasing the risk of dementia or Alzheimers.
